Measuring Distances Across Virginia

After a short discussion about using maps and map scale, students learned how to set a scale using NIH Image software. The opened a digital map of Virginia and set the scale. Next they used NIH Image tools to measure distances between various cites in Virginia. As a challenge, students measured the perimeter of Virginia and also the bottom border.
