- What is a hanging indent?
- When you type a list or a test question,
sometimes items take up more than one line. With a hanging indent
set up, the words will automatically line up under the text in the
first line.
- What a great way to make a list of items and
not worry about tabbing each time!
How to Set up a Hanging Indent
- Open ClarisWorks. Choose Word Processing.
- Normally, when you attempt to drag the left
indent marker, the first line marker also comes along for the
ride.
- To move the left indent marker by itself (so
you can easily create a hanging indent), hold down the Option key
while you click and drag the left indent marker.
- To form the hanging indent, start by typing
the number or bullet symbol. then press Tab and type the text. If
the text is longer than one line, the remaining text automatically
wraps to the position of the left indent marker.
